Blitz is the most frequent game in Vilnius. Every Tuesday from 19:00 Vilniaus šachmatų klubas plays its blitz tournament at Užupio kavinė, which is how the café appears on the tournament server week after week. Lietuvos šachmatų mokykla runs a blitz series at the Panorama hotel on Seinų gatvė about once a month at weekends, with sections named SMALSUS, GUDRUS and SUPER, and the hotel also hosted a Panorama Blitz beside the summer open.
Two schools of higher learning keep blitz championships of their own: Mykolo Romerio universitetas on Ateities gatvė holds an open blitz championship in spring, and the VGTU engineering lyceum on Antakalnio gatvė holds a blitz tournament early in the year. In September 2026 a sports-festival blitz was played in the open air on Lukiškių aikštė.
